Funding Supports Long-Term Housing Recovery Efforts

Habitat for Humanity Kerr County is honored to partner with the Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country, through the Kerr County Flood Relief Fund, to support long-term housing recovery efforts following the July 4 floods.

Through this partnership, Habitat is providing critical repair and reconstruction services for families in Kerrville, Center Point, and Comfort whose homes were damaged or destroyed. These recovery efforts focus on restoring safe, stable housing while reinvesting in the local economy through the use of local contractors, suppliers, and trades.

As part of this recovery work, the Community Foundation’s investment is also making it possible for Habitat to build 10 new homes in the Mariposa community for families impacted by the flooding.

Together, these efforts reflect a shared commitment to compassionate, long-term recovery. Habitat for Humanity Kerr County is deeply grateful to the Community Foundation and to a community that surrounds its neighbors in times of need. This work is only possible because of collective generosity, trust, and a belief that safe housing is essential to recovery.

Recovery Progress

As of July 4 2026, Habitat for Humanity Kerr County has completed 30 repair and reconstruction projects, helping families return to safer and more stable homes.

Habitat has also completed nine of the 10 Mariposa homes designated for families displaced by the July 4, 2025 flood. The final home is currently nearing completion.

Each completed home represents more than a construction milestone. It represents a family reclaiming stability, a community keeping its promises, and another meaningful step forward on the long road to recovery.

Responding to the July 2026 Flood

Following the new flooding on July 16, 2026, Habitat immediately began reaching out to the families served through our disaster repair and reconstruction program.

We have contacted every repair client and are currently evaluating whether their homes sustained additional damage. At this early stage, we are still assessing conditions, listening to families, and working to understand what support may be needed.

Our first priority is the safety and well-being of the families we serve. We remain committed to walking beside them and ensuring they know they are not alone as our community once again begins to evaluate the road ahead.

Beyond repairing and rebuilding 40 homes, this grant is also driving local economic recovery.
Habitat is reinvesting 98 percent of the funds back into local contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers, ensuring that recovery strengthens the same community it is meant to heal.

As a trusted local builder for more than 36 years, Habitat Kerr County will repair and rebuild 40 homes using the Community Foundation’s transformative investment.

Habitat is partnering exclusively with longtime Kerr County tradespeople, including:

• Local contractors

• Skilled subcontractors

• Builders

• Locally owned suppliers

These partners are providing deep discounts and hometown service to stretch recovery funds even further. Their work continues a long tradition of community collaboration that has defined Habitat’s success since its founding.
