Estella Ramirez and her sons, Emmitt and Jordan, lost nearly everything when a devastating house fire destroyed their home. They escaped with only the clothes they were wearing and suddenly faced the difficult task of rebuilding their lives from the ground up.
Despite the unimaginable loss, Estella never gave up hope. Her determination to provide a safe, stable future for her sons led the family to Habitat for Humanity Kerr County and the opportunity to become affordable homeowners.
On June 20, family members, friends, volunteers, donors, board members, staff, and community partners gathered to celebrate the dedication of the Ramirez family’s new Habitat home. The afternoon marked more than the completion of a house. It represented a new beginning and the chance for Estella, Emmitt, and Jordan to once again have a place of safety, comfort, and belonging.
The home was generously sponsored by Doug and Sarah Foshee in honor of Lt. Marty Morris, recognizing his many years of service and dedication to the community. During the dedication, Habitat expressed its gratitude to the Foshees and honored Lt. Morris for the positive impact he has made throughout Kerr County.
Surrounded by the people who helped make the day possible, the Ramirez family received the keys to their new home and opened the door to a brighter future.
The celebration was a powerful reminder of what can happen when a community comes together. Through the generosity of donors, the dedication of volunteers, and the support of local partners, families facing difficult circumstances can build strength, stability, and hope through affordable homeownership.
Habitat for Humanity Kerr County is deeply grateful to everyone who helped make this new beginning possible for the Ramirez family.
