Habitat Kerr County Receives $3 Million from the Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country

Funding supports home reconstruction and economic recovery following the July 4 floods

Habitat for Humanity Kerr County is honored to announce a $3 million grant from the Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country, made possible through the Kerr County Flood Relief Fund, to support long-term housing recovery efforts after the July 4 floods.

This funding will help families in Kerrville, Center Point, and Comfort whose homes were damaged or destroyed, providing critical rebuilding assistance and essential recovery services

Rebuilding Homes. Rebuilding Lives. Rebuilding Local.

Beyond repairing and rebuilding 40 homes, this grant is also driving local economic recovery.
Habitat is reinvesting 97 percent of the funds back into local contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers, ensuring that recovery strengthens the same community it is meant to heal.

By transforming the Habitat ReStore into a temporary construction warehouse, Habitat is maximizing every recovery dollar and moving materials directly onto job sites quickly and efficiently. This approach allows us to:

  • Bulk-purchase essential building materials

  • Overcome supply-chain delays

  • Deliver appliances and supplies rapidly to impacted families

  • Stretch disaster recovery funding as far as possible

This is recovery powered by neighbors, shaped by hope, and rooted in the belief that Kerr County rises strongest when it rises together.

Habitat ReStore: A Temporary Lifeline for Disaster Rebuilding

The Habitat ReStore has been temporarily converted from a discount home-improvement store into a disaster recovery warehouse.

This space is now storing:

  • Building materials

  • Appliances

  • Tools

  • Home repair supplies

Every discount secured for these materials goes directly to flood-impacted families through Habitat’s repair and rebuild work. This temporary transformation allows Habitat to serve more families and keep materials flowing during a period of high demand and limited supply.

Reinvesting $3 Million into the Kerr County Economy

As a trusted local builder for more than 36 years, Habitat Kerr County will repair and rebuild 40 homes using the Community Foundation’s transformative investment.

Habitat is partnering exclusively with longtime Kerr County tradespeople, including:

  • Local contractors

  • Skilled subcontractors

  • Builders

  • Locally owned suppliers

These partners are providing deep discounts and hometown service to stretch recovery funds even further. Their work continues a long tradition of community collaboration that has defined Habitat’s success since its founding.

With the support of the Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country and our dedicated local partners, Habitat for Humanity Kerr County is committed to helping families return to safety, stability, and home.
